Hands up if you, like me, are a sneaker head. I’m quite surprised that as I get older, instead of favouring heels for a more “grown-up” look, I’ve adopted the humble sneaker as my go-to footwear for everything. If anyone still thinks that sneakers are too street, it’s time to set the record straight – sneakers look good with everything, as long as you wear them with confidence and right attitude! I pair mine with cocktail dresses, suits and recently even wore a pair to a gala event with a cheongsam.
Anyway, my point is… there’s nothing humble about the new Nike Air Max 1 Ultra City Collection. I’m already a proud owner of the Nike Sky Hi Paris sneakers, so when I stumbled onto this latest collection (which launched this month), I immediately filed these blooming beauties under my “must-have” list. In fact, they went right to the top of my shopping list – which is pretty darn long already.
Available in six variants, this six collection is inspired by the style capitals – Paris, London, Milan, Tokyo, Shanghai and New York – all of which are also home to running enthusiasts. While running might not exactly be my workout of choice for now, I’m tempted to start my own running club so I have an excuse to own the Paris (rococo pastels), Tokyo (cherry blossoms), London (English Rose) and New York (monochrome palette) sneakers.
Judging by the recent collaboration (NikeLab x Sacai) and coveted design offerings coming out of Nike, it sure looks like this sportswear giant means serious fashion business. I’m not complaining, and here’s hoping that someone at Nike is paying attention because we need these babies in Singapore too!
The Women’s Nike Sportswear Spring 2015 City Collection will be available in North America, online at nike.com/sportswear and at select Nike Sportswear retailers beginning April 11.
